Fortnite Maker Wants Apple’s ‘Retaliation’ Blocked

Law360 (August 17, 2020, 8:09 PM EDT) — Epic Games Inc., the company behind Fortnite, asked a California federal judge Monday to block Apple Inc. from cutting off its access to iPhone players and software developers while an antitrust lawsuit moves forward on Apple’s 30% app payments commission.

Hours after it had already removed Fortnite from the App Store in alleged “retaliation” for Epic giving players a direct payments option for in-game purchases, cutting out the middleman and offering accompanying discounts, the game maker said that Apple took the fight a step further by moving to cut off access to Apple tools needed to develop the Unreal graphics engine…
