Cisco Says Counterfeits Put Hospitals, Military At Breach Risk

Law360 (July 17, 2020, 5:39 PM EDT) — Cisco Systems Inc. says a group of Chinese companies are appropriating its trademarks to sell substandard products to hospitals and military clients, putting those customers at risk of data breaches, according to a lawsuit filed Thursday in California federal court.

Cisco said Shenzhen Usource Technology Co., Shenzhen Warex Technologies Co. Ltd. and Warex Technologies Ltd. have been marketing and advertising transceivers bearing Cisco’s branding in order to pass them off to unsuspecting customers as Cisco products, according to the complaint that alleges trademark infringement and counterfeiting and false advertising.
