FCC Told New 6 Ghz Rules Endanger Public Safety Uses

Law360 (June 15, 2020, 6:37 PM EDT) — New rules letting unlicensed users take up space on the 6GHz band could endanger public safety communications because the FCC’s planned reorganization does not fully account for existing users’ needs, a group representing first responders warned the agency.

While it does not oppose the concept of unlicensed 6-Ghz use, the National Public Safety Telecommunications Council told Federal Communications Commission officials, the group “does oppose rules that do not fully take into account preventing harmful interference to critical public safety and other essential operations.”
