USA Swimming Sued Over Coaches’ Child Sex Abuse
Law360 (June 10, 2020, 10:54 PM EDT) — The national governing body for competitive swimming has been hit with three lawsuits in California state courts alleging the organization was negligent while coaches sexually abused child swimmers in the 1980s and ’90s.
In suits launched in late May and early June, a group of women accuse USA Swimming of looking the other way and otherwise enabling sexual abuse of swimmers by three coaches. The complaints, filed in Superior Court in Orange and Alameda counties, were brought under a new California law that created a grace period for victims of child sexual abuse to file claims that previously would have expired…
