Ex-Benjamin Moore Atty Says Pollution Reveal Led To Firing
Law360 (June 10, 2020, 8:33 PM EDT) — Benjamin Moore & Co. was hit with a workplace retaliation lawsuit in New Jersey state court by a former deputy general counsel who claims the paint giant canned him after he raised concerns about the company’s purported illegal burying of hazardous waste on the grounds of a California facility it later sold.
Paul Sangillo claims the company’s downsizing of him and an assistant due to the COVID-19 pandemic was pretextual and that he was really fired for whistleblowing. His April termination followed six years of positive performance reviews and many successful litigations, the June 2 complaint says.
