DOI Botched Calif. Tribe’s Casino Land Decision, DC Circ. Told

Law360 (February 27, 2020, 8:45 PM EST) — Anti-gambling advocacy group Stand Up For California has urged the D.C. Circuit to overturn a federal judge’s ruling that approved a government decision to take land into trust for a tribe’s planned casino. 

The group, which opposes the project by the Wilton Rancheria of California, told the D.C. Circuit Wednesday that an unqualified official with the U.S. Department of the Interior made the decision to take 36 acres in Elk Grove, California, into trust.
